Kevin Bean is one quarter, and surviving member, of the Bean Brothers Four. Kevin became interested in beans at a young age, in part due to sharing his surname with the legume. Along with Pete, Paul and Stewart Bean he toured schools and community centres with informational songs about beans, the brothers styling themselves as the Bean Brothers Four (see Episode 29).
Unfortunately tragedy struck Kevin’s life when all three of his brothers died of leukaemia. Kevin then took the ill-advised decision to tour solo as ‘Mr. Bean’ and was subsequently sued by Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis for infringement of copyright of their much-loved comic character. In poverty due to his legal issues, Kevin's wife left him, and Kevin found himself with only his car to sleep in and the company of his much loved dog ('Bean'). In an incredible turn of events Bean the dog also died of leukaemia. Stricken with grief once more, Kevin did the only thing he knew how, and that was to perform once more as the Bean Brothers Four, albeit leaving blank portions in his songs as a quasi-tribute to his fallen brothers.
In Episode 34 we briefly meet Kevin in a episode of 'Crookombaris', a show ostensibly about how George Calombaris is a crook. in it, Calombaris steals Kevin's TV and then throws it in the bin, explaining to his viewers that as he is rich and doesn't need it.
In 2020 Kevin was arrested for attempting to sing unsolicited bean songs at schools. Later that year Kevin Bean and his new dog contracted COVID-19, his dog becoming the only known dog to die of COVID-19 in the world. Kevin suffered the further tragedy of having an arm amputated thanks to a staph infection from his time hospitalised with coronavirus (see Episode 88).
It was also revealed that Kevin had fallen in with a group of white supremacists who had taught him how to shoot the rifle one handed. He then presented his new song about the dangers of mixing up black and white beans (see Episode 88) which drew the ire of Eddo and Ben.
Kevin Bean next appeared on Episode 100, the first Grub live show, where he intended to bring on a green bean and a baked bean however he was mugged immediately prior to the show and had his beans stolen. He then played a naughty (although Kevin likes to uses the spelling ‘norty’) song inspired by the song ‘WAP’, featuring filthy lyrics about 'wet slits'. Kevin must've played this song one handed seeing as, as we heard earlier, he has had his arm amputated. He signed off with some racist thoughts, signalling that he may have been still associating with the white supremacists he mentioned in Episode 88.
Kevin’s favourite bean is the lima bean.
